Violin with Emily
After over ten years of private instrument lessons with a wide variety of instructors, Emily has found that, in most cases, someone who is especially passionate about their instrument makes the very best teacher. Emily specializes in making the process of mastering violin a rewarding and joyful experience. She is genuinely passionate about violin and strives to pursue excellence in all things.

Meet Emily
Emily is a classically trained violinist with over fifteen years of experience, teaching and performing. Her other musical training has consisted of many years of piano, mandolin, cello, and voice lessons. Emily has spent many years arranging and performing music with her family's folk/bluegrass band, Chords of Grace. She also participates in her church's service weekly, playing classical style ensemble hymns. In her years of playing violin, Emily has found a great love for experimenting with different styles including Scottish, Irish, classical, sacred, bluegrass, and, occasionally, pop music. Other than music, in her free time Emily enjoys reading, crocheting, spending time with family and friends, and flying her dad's Cessna 172.

Start Your Musical Journey
Beginner
Learning to play violin as a complete beginner can, unfortunately, be a frustrating and tedious experience. However, Emily's consistent encouragement, gentle critique, and attention to detail eliminates monotony and inspires students to press on to learn and succeed. One of her favorite things is seeing her students' reaction to playing their first duet, often within a month of beginning lessons. Beginners of any age find as much joy as she does in the beauty of simple harmony.
Grow Your Skills
Intermediate to Advanced
Once a student is more comfortable with their violin, and playing simple songs feels almost second nature, many new elements can be introduced to perfect tone and boost confidence. Learning shifting, vibrato, and becoming more and more comfortable with the instrument and all of its capabilities are vital parts of growing into an accomplished violinist. Emily also loves to introduce her students to the basics of Celtic fiddling once they are advanced enough. Students who are not overly enthusiastic about the classical repertoire often find themselves enchanted by the joy and vibrancy of Irish and Scottish jigs, reels, and airs.
